Dr. Perricone now offering “Light Renewal” light therapy device

2008 July 19

I reviewed the Marvel Mini red at the beginning of the year and graduated to the Baby Quasar unit several months after that, I was so pleased with the results of at-home light therapy.

Dr. Perricone has always been a supporter of the benefits of light therapy, in his books. I was wondering when he’d come out with his own light therapy device. That time has come, with “LIGHT Renewal”. The Perricone unit is a red light unit that also emits near-infrared light. It retails for $335

I won’t be reviewing this unit, as I’m quite content with my Baby Quasar, which I am going to assume is a stronger unit (due to it’s higher price tag) and the fact that it emits 3 types of light: red, infrared and amber. I’ve yet to give the Baby Quasar a complete blog review, but the time will come… I promise.

For those looking for something in a price range between the Marvel Mini ($225 and red light only- I saw great results!) and the Baby Quasar ($449 and amber, red and infrared) this could be for you. The details:

Dr. Perricone has long spoken about the benefits of light therapy and its proven efficacy in reversing the signs of age. He is incredibly proud to bring this technology to you in a dermatological-grade unit that delivers proven results.

As we age, cell regeneration begins to slow, collagen production diminishes and skin loses its ability to retain moisture and achieve a healthy glow. As a result, fine lines and wrinkles begin to appear, especially around the contours of the eyes, and an overall dull appearance sets in. While light therapy has long proven effective in fighting the signs of age, up until now it has been expensive and not easily accessible.

LIGHT Renewal softens fine lines and wrinkles, while improving the appearance of skin’s tone, texture and firmness. Skin will be restored to its radiant and youthful appearance.

Another great device is the Tanda skincare system. Excellent for anti-aging or acne.

Tanda could be great if it had an OVER THE COUNTER clearance from the FDA.
They have not and should only be prescribed by doctors – however, this is unlikely to happen as TANDA has no viable clinical studies invivo (in/on the body) to substantiate their claims.
Does it do what they say ?
Look to buy a device from an established business that has done the clinical research.

is this different from a regular infrared lamp (which you can have for much cheaper) and the photon beauty (also cheaper)..? I also know something else: http://www.light4beauty.com/

I have just purchased a baby quasar and after just 1 use I could see a difference. My lines were plumped and my skin had a healthy glow and looked firmer. Can’t wait to use it again!!

I actually just purchased the Perricone light therapy kit — and was hoping to get started on it today — however, the directions are vague.
They state to “use” on one side of the face for 2ominutes. The following day “use” on other side for 20min and so on and so fourth.
    My question is …
HOW DO YOU USE IT? Do you actually massage your skin with it? Hover over the skin or hold it an arms length away from the skin?
Any idea — I know you use a similar product — although much more powerful, Im assuming
    Thnks!
