Who to vote for now? Voteboth.com!
The primary season is finally over. That better not mean that my favorite show, The Colbert Report, suddenly gets boring…
(Note: if you are a staunch Republican you might just want to skip this post…)
I stopped savoring the political news as much when Edwards dropped out of the race and my time as a campaign volunteer came to a close. Definitely an experience I’ll never forget and never regret!
I was proud to be able to vote for my man in the SC primaries.
But then, I felt unable to support either Hillary or Obama. My perfect candidate was gone…
A girl can’t always have what she wants.
So that’s when the girl has to be a woman and place her vote where it will count. In this case, it will be a candidate I don’t care for, but hey… you gotta do what you gotta do. (no, not vote for Nader, sillies!)
But there are powers of persuasion and a girl can dream about having her cake and eating it too. Yeah, that “Dream Ticket” thing that’s all over the news networks. Hillary’s got oh, let’s see… 18 million votes and the support of roughly half of the Democratic party? Not too shabby…
I never thought I’d post this in my blog, but here it goes…. eek, this is difficult… click on the logo below to be taken to Voteboth.com and sign the petition! Now, back to makeup…

I have lots of thoughts……..when they both announced their plans to run, the first thing I said is they should team up, with her as Pres and him as VP. I think they would’ve had a clear shot. But after all that’s happened, I just don’t see it. I hate to think negatively, but after you’ve gone and critized the other, is it believable that they’d shake, smile, and put their differences aside to work together? Although the good news (or perhaps it’s bad?) is that not enough people pay attention to the debates to notice, so I guess one can never say never.
This is going to be a confusing election, that’s for sure.
I’ve got tons of thoughts too… including can bygones be bygones? But then primaries always get heated and then everyone goes on to make nicey nicey. It’s all part of the political performance. Back in the days of our founding fathers, the person in the #2 spot automatically got the VP slot… it would be kind of cool to think that the VP would be someone that was based on the desires of the voters and not the desires of the presumptive nominee, you know?
I had the toughest time posting that… but it’s tough to see a race this close, with the people so divided right down the middle… end. To me, there really were two winners!
But in the end, Obama will choose whoever he feels is best, but I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when those two met last night in Dianne Feinstein’s living room!
I would’ve loved to hear that conversation too….. and I know what you mean, as I really didn’t support Obama.
The more I think about it, the more I think it would fly. It seems if you say something often enough, people will accept it. Just have every news show, every talk show, keep talking about it, and people would be ok with it. Taking her on as a partner would go a long way to keep her supporters – as McCain is really trying to woo them- and could really be a major factor in Obama winning the election. Although who knows what his advisors are telling him – and I doubt Caroline Kennedy will give Hillary the green light, but again, if they decide to go with the “best for the party” by combining the two strongest candidates idea….
I think people that don’t like Hillary would still vote for Obama if she was his running mate, whereas people who supported Hillary seem not so sure about voting for Obama. And we still have to see what impact McCain’s decision on a running mate will make on the whole thing.
Guess we’ll have to wait & see!
Whatever you do don’t vote for John McCain! ! Unless you want to stay in Iraq that is, and don’t care about whether health care or the economy changes. Or unless your social values stop you from voting for the more progressive and educated candidate. Then that is your absolute right of course if you believe in praying in schools, you believe all gays are sinners, and abortion is a sin too as well as other conservative values-oh wait John McCain isn’t conservative I forgot. What I mean is if you are a hard core Republican you most likely would never vote for a Democrat anyhow.
But if you are a democrat, please vote for the Democrat. Don’t be foolish! If your values are that you believe in universal health care for all, and you want the economy to improve, you want us to not be a war mongering hated nation,a nation driven by greed, the almighty dollar and big business, and you don’t want Roe Vs Wade to be overturned to take away womens choices then chances are you are a Democrat. Then please if you are a Democrat no matter WHO the running mate is vote for the Democrat!! It is ridiculous that Democrats would refuse to vote for Obama just because Hillary didn’t win…….it is ridiculous if you care about the core Democratic values more than other things. This is our time! Things are BAD OUT THERE FOLKS!!
One of the main reasons people won’t vote for Obama is racism. Sorry-that is it-lets just say it-it is true.
I think that’s where Obama is going to have a hard time – there are so many people who will simply NOT vote for him based on race. I think Hillary would have the same issue if she were the candidate – there are many people who just won’t vote for a woman.
I’d like to think positively and think that people will vote based on the issues, but I thought that way last election, and George W was reelected. I couldn’t understand how so many people felt they wanted to “finish the war” 4 years ago – which seemed to be the most common reason given why people voted for him. I would like nothing more than our troops to be home safely – but you have to wonder is it even possible at this point to pull out? Is Syria just waiting for this to happen? Will it fester for the next 10-20 years, like when the US stopped aid to Afghanistan after the Russian-Afghan war? What consequences will there be down the road? There’s just no way to answer. The staggering number of kids – and yes, the majority of these soldiers are kids – coming home with shattered lives, missing limbs, in pieces both physically and mentally, is simply heartwrenching. I wish it all could stop.
I feel each person should vote based on the issues, and their own beliefs. Hopefully voter turnout will increase – NJ just had a primary and there was NO ONE at the polls. 12 to 15%, from what I heard. That’s just sad. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if EVERY American registered, and turned out to vote?
And if you’re not registered, do it. Go to
https://ssl.congress.org/congressorg/e4/nvra/
select your state, and follow the instructions. It’s easy, only takes a few minutes, and you’ll feel better once you’ve done it. And of course, remember that all elections are important, especially your local and state elections. Ok, I’ll get off the soapbox now!
Cin, I totally agree- most people only vote in general presidential elections and never vote in anything else. We have primaries June 10 for various state, senate and congressional spots.
I saw a writer interviewed or, “interviewed” on Colbert Report, author of “The Uprising” and a big part of his book is about how change doesn’t begin at the top (Presidential election)… it begins at the bottom… in local and state offices and then works it’s way upward. That’s where people should focus, on making big changes at a local level. A state level, and so-forth… if they really want “change”, and they really want to “take back washington”. Because it ain’t gonna just happen from the top echelon.
I might get this book, but only after I finish reading Ron Paul’s book, and Naomi Wolf’s book, “The End of America”.

I have a lot of reading to catch up on.
Kung Fu Panda was very fun, BTW. What a dichotomy, huh?

1 HAVE TO SAY THAT IF OBAMA WOULD AGREE TO TAKE HILLARY AS VP THAT WOULD THE SMARTEST THING HE HAS DONE SINCE HE ANNOUNCED FOR PREZ. NO ONE SHOULD WORRY ABOUT WHAT BILL WOULD DO IN THIS CASE. HE HAS ALREADY PROVEN THAT HE HAS MORE BRAINS IN HIS LITTLE FINGER(W) THAN MOST OF THE POLITICIANS ON THE RADAR NOW. HE HAS BETTER THINGS TO DO ON A WHOLE RANGE OF ISSUES THAN GET INVOLVED IN WHAT OBAMA & HILLARY CAN PLAINLY SEE WHAT THEY HAVE BEFORE THEM.SO…….LET’S GET BEHIND THEM AND LET THEM GET TO IT !!!! RIGHT?????? V
