Hi Ladies,
Since hand and arm swatching has become such a phenomenon on beauty blogs, and it gives a different perspective on the colors than the swatches that we have on the website, I’ve decided to treat you all to hand swatches of our new Gothic Lolita Eyeshadow Collection.
In lieu of using my arm, it was just a lot easier to put dots of color on the back of my hand and photograph them on macro, so you can see better detail. So I looked a little like a character from a Dr. Seuss book by the time I was done, but hope you all enjoy!
These were photographed outdoors, in late afternoon light. Applied dry. No base or primer, just straight-up on my hand!
Enjoy!
xoxo

What kind of undereye circles do YOU have? April 27, 2008

I recently learned that under-eye circles come in different varieties… and that different shades of concealer do the job more sufficiently than others depending on what your type of dark circle is!
Over the years, I think we’ve all been trained to think that yellow-based concealers are best. This has pretty much become a mantra! I know that I, for years and years have bought yellow concealers based on this perception…
In a nutshell, use a yellowish concealer if your under-eye circles have a blue cast, a peachy one if your circles are yellowish or sallow, and a concealer that is an exact match to your skin to hide redness. You’ll need to examine your skin without makeup to determine just what type of dark circle you think you have.
Now, based on this information I can’t explain why our Pink Concealer has become a “holy grail” for so many of you in giving you a bright, awake look… but I guess that if it works, let’s just let it be!
Apply concealer delicately (a tiny brush, such as our cover/fill brush is best!) and in a light layer, and avoid the outer corners of the eyes- where squinting and/or crows feet can cause concealer to cake up and become noticeable.
What are some of the causes of dark circles?
Allergies, lack of sleep, sun damage, thinning of the skin with age, loss of fat under the eyes, and hermosiderin (leakage of iron oxide from capillaries which causes bluish or brownish circles- products containing Vitamin K are purported to diminish these type of dark circles).
Cream concealers are on sale this week, ladies!
xo,
Miss K
