Color on the Catwalk! Ultra-Bright Eyes at New York Fashion Week…

Here’s something to wake you all up…

New York Fall Fashion Week is winding down… yes. I know… it’s only February!

However, here is a glimpse of some things to come. Colorful eye makeup only occasionally makes an appearance on the runway, but it inundated the Ready-to-Wear collections of several designers, who made bold eye color statements.

Most runway makeup stays very neutral.

These looks, not necessarily intended for general consumption… show that color is indeed here to stay. I kinda like that!

We might just need to take it from the “Runway” to the “Realway”. And with so many colors to choose from and so many talented ladies out there, I know you’re all up to it!

xoxo

    I agree!
Too funny, cause I was just looking at style.com today and saw some of these pics on it. :-)

I’m loving the bright colors (though I’m often afraid to try them myself). I couldn’t help but be distracted by that fourth picture, though. I just kept thinking, “Why did they clip a flattened toilet paper roll into her hair?” ;D

Sorry, but I like the looks that the AL divas come up with better! The AL gallery is so much more inspiring and pretty! Good job ladies!

LOL Rachel- they clip the paper into their hair backstage to flatten it I think… I thought that too.

I think that all of your looks are much more inspiring (and beautifully complex) than these… what excites me about seeing bright colors on the runway though… is that it’s outside of our Aromaleigh micro-cosm!!!

And if it is in the Fall Fashion shows and in Ready-to-Wear (not Couture, which has more fantasy looks) then it means that it is well on it’s way to being more mainstreamed.

All of this means that bright colored eye looks could be much more prevalent this fall… more so than ever… and that, is definitely… totally cool.

Because we all love a little spark of color sometime!

I really love the bright yellow… just doubt that I could ever wear it, just am really attracted to the photos. Very futuristic, and love the bobbed hair (my signiature haircut, so I am partial!~)

Wow, I have not seen the eyeshadow-above-the-brow before. That’s cool to see something totally new when you are obsessed with makeup and think you have seen it all. I guess I have seen it before in the fantasy looks (like bird feathers or whatnot) but not in more mainstream mu.

Btw, notice the girl with the yellowish green halo-effect e/s with lashes the same color. Minerals are well suited to this…just dip your clear mascara brush into the minerals.

    Great pics, thanks for sharing!

Ooh – I’m also really drawn to the yellow – I love the halo of yellow in the first pic – also love her hair! Happy me – I just got my Elemental Lusters in Gleam and am ordering Nico today. Been craving that hot, sharp barley mustard color – not quite as neon as Chrome Yellow, but not very muted at all. Love it with gray, too!

Kristen, thanks for posting these pics!

Bridget, I’ve for a while wanted to do a look with “Estranged” shadow with a halo of green around the eyes, framed by bamboo. We’ve got tons of tall bamboo growing around here. When we did the fantasy makeover pics and were doing the garden images, this is what I was picturing, but time gets the best of me and I just don’t have a chance to goof around with my makeup… wish I had about 4 more hours in the day because there are so many things I’d love to try.

All of these were very interesting… even if not for our ‘wearable’ looks, we can get some ideas to make them our own! :-)

I really love yellow too. Even though I don’t wear it often, I had to have Sunshine pure hue (bought it several months ago… used it maybe 3 times). I love to just LOOK at it!

Thank you for posting these… I love all colours, so I am in heaven with these!

Sunshine is one of my FAVORITE colors! Abby, you should use it more often :-)
I think I’ll have to use it today in fact.

Oooh, I really like the blue eyeshadow on the third pic down!

All this talk about yellow is interesting …. the closest I’ve ever come to wearing yellow eyeshadow is wearing Delicate Gold on the inner corner of my lid with another color(s) on the rest of the lid! I actually get a lot of compliments when I wear pale yellow clothing (bright yellow is definitely too overpowering for me), so I wonder if I could incorporate some yellow eyeshadow into some of my more colorful looks…? Something to think about :)
