Marvel-Mini Red Light Therapy- My First Treatment and BEFORE photos!
This will be a short entry because I’ve simply got to get to sleep!
I did my first treatment last night and I’m going to have to get used to 25 minutes of holding my arm up to my face, because, quite frankly- my arm hurt! It was that pain you get when you’ve been holding the hairdryer or curling iron up to your head for too long and your arm starts to ache. I kept switching on and off from right arm to left arm.
I will get used to it… I’m a trooper.
I did my treatment after applying my moisturizer and I think this was a mistake- the light wand didn’t glide over my skin very well because my skin was dewy with moisture. I will try it on dry skin tomorrow night and then apply skincare afterwards.
Overall, the treatment was as advertised, pain free. I felt a little warmth sometimes, but nothing really notable. The manual doesn’t say anything about keeping your eyes shut when you have the wand near the eye area, but I’d recommend it considering that I can’t imagine it’s healthy for your eyes to get doses of pulsating red light. I kept mine shut the entire time except to look at the manual to make sure I was doing it correctly. So much for my plans of WATCHING television while doing this, I guess I will just be listening to television!
So now we get to the part where I get up the courage to show you pictures of myself first thing in the morning with no makeup on… yikes! Bridget, you requested before photos showing my “problem” areas, and after much debate, I decided that no review would be any review if I didn’t lay it on the line and bare my bare skin for you all to ooh and aah over. Ha! Literally the opposite, you’ll be amazed at what Aromaleigh Mineral Makeup does for me on a daily basis when you see the photos I am going to post below… so here it goes.
If you’re new to my Marvel Mini Red review thread and want to see me at my best, visit my photo gallery before I frighten you with my no-makeup photos, LOL!
I would like to note that the yellowish/brown areas and spots around my eye area are the Melasma that I got after starting to take the BCP’s Yaz and Yasmin. I’ve been treating these areas with Lumedia and they have faded A LOT but as you can see under the macro lens of my camera, obviously not gone (and they appear darker in real life to me than in this photo). I’ve discontinued the Yaz/Yasmin so I hope that they fade altogether now… along with the rest of the horrible side effects…
I hope to see changes in my pore size and in some fine lines. I also have some skin laxicity that I hope to “firm up” that you can’t really see in a photograph. I do have a fair amount of rosacea on my nose and sides of my nose. You just can’t see it in this photo because of the lighting… but I hope that this gets better as well. It’s really, really red when I wake up in the morning, when I get out of the shower, when I work out or when my face gets cold. I guess these will be true tests.
You can see some of my skin “firmness” issues a lot better in this photo, around my cheeks. and my redness around my nose area is more obvious (but still not as pink as in real life). I’m hoping for overall improvement in skin texture and tone, reduction of rosacea and fine lines and reduction of pore size.
So there you go, girls- I’ve laid it on the line and dressed up for you in green polarfleece and you’ve gotten to see me with no makeup on. Now, It’s time for the Marvel Mini Red to go to work!!!
I thought I would be doing 2 treatments a week for 8 weeks, but the revised information is actually 4 treatments a week for 4 weeks.
I’ll check back with another update in 2 weeks and embarass myself with more no makeup photos… gasp! No, really it isn’t that bad. At 37 I think I’ve taken really good care of my skin and despite having been through an ark-load of personal issues in my life that at times have made me feel like I have actually lived 9 lives, I’m surprised at my 37 year old skin and even ecstatic with it. I do feel pressure in my job to look my best- after all, I am representing a cosmetics company. I’m used to getting constant compliments about my skin. I’ve gotten them my entire life. And I plan on keeping it that way for a while longer!
I’ve babied this skin, I’ve nourished and nurtured and cared for this skin… and I’ve earned every single little wrinkle, pore and freckle of time.
If I didn’t love you girls you’d never get me to do this! All in the name of beauty!
xoxo

Bravo Kristen! You are one brave girl for sure! Lord, I’ll barely go to the mailbox with no makeup on….but you look a WORLD better than I do without it! You have awesome lashes, btw.
I can’t wait to see the results!
(Eek!! that’s what i need…just ONE more nifty beauty gadget to drool over…i’m still trying to fanagle a clarisonic!)
Thanks, Kristen, for that review!! And yes, bravo, to you for being so open and honest. Remember, we are all our own worst critics… To me you’re still gorgeous even without makeup.
Looking forward to the next review!
I agree with Loida, you are still a beauty without makeup. I admire your bravery for sharing and I am really really looking forward to seeing the results. Thanks for doing this!!!
Kristen, you sweet and brave soul!
Your skin is very beautiful bare – very smooth and poreless. I am envious!
Thank you so much for showing the pics – and with the accelerated regimen it will be fun to compare before-during-after!
Hats off to you, my sister!

K– I will gladly take your younger skn, and raise you five treatment tx with your Marvel – Mini… .If this helps with rosacea alone it will be worth the dough. We do so appreciate your nude face pics . And look foward to seeing the future ics of post tx.
You still look pretty with no makeup on, very youthful actually. I look forward to seeing how well the Marvel Mini works, next you can try that No-no hair remover thing for us
Thanks ladies… that was tough to do! You’re all so very sweet. Those were my “good” no makeup photos. I looked like a sad puppy dog in some of them, and as usual my camera in macro-mode makes my nose look like a national monument. It’s hard to “show” what my skin really looks like in pictures. I see things so differently when I’m in motion and up close and applying makeup, or just seeing myself in the mirror.
I’m going to be realistic that the marvel mini probably cannot address any of these issues as well as titan or thermage can, but again- I don’t have the cash for those and I’m not into the pain factor.
I’m doing another treatment tonight, after Desperate Housewives!
xoxo
